TEAM MOMENTUM
Don’t you find it interesting that the sports team with the most talent doesn’t always win every game? How can that happen? Shouldn’t the team with the most talent win every time? And why is it that those teams that find a way to start a winning tradition continue to thrive year after year, while others make it a habit to struggle or fall short of expectations, regardless of how much new talent they acquire in the off-season. It's clear that skills and talent alone won't insure success in sports, and the same holds true in business!
Doug believes that Team Momentum is the most underutilized competitive differentiator in business today. It's available to everyone, but only the best-of-the-best leaders capitalize on it. Few team leaders will dispute the significance of having energized employees and well connected teams. But recognizing the value and making it happen are two very different skill sets. That’s why only the best leaders make it a priority to direct the thoughts and mindsets of their teammates. Every company has skilled people, but few have committed people. In other words, it's not what your people CAN DO that matters most, it's what they WILL DO.
Below are some of the more common reasons why most leaders lose interest in building cohesive teams, along with a quick response regarding how we can help.
  • Teambuilding is hard to justify. It's is perceived as soft, fuzzy, and not quantifiable.
    • Surprisingly, contrary to popular belief, team building activities are actually one of the safest investments your can make! You see, unlike skills training, your investments in team momentum and a positive culture don't simply walk out the door when someone leaves your company. We have several ways to quantify our efforts. For a quick preview visit www.MeasurableMotivation.com, and take a quick 2 minute survey to get your personal motivational index. If you like the process, do it with your team. It’s free!

  • Seems like a lot of work for little pay off. I don't have the time.
    • It's pretty obvious that there is no better investment of your training dollars than to make sure your employees feel connected and important, and are fully engaged. So, the question is, "How do you find the time"? Doug offers leaders a turn-key solution that makes it easy. All he needs is a single phone conversation with the leader(s) and he'll put together a program or a comprehensive plan to elevate your team to new levels. He'll consider all the nuances of your group and the issues at hand; then he’ll personally deliver a winning event. In the meantime, you can stay focused on the day-to-day business at hand.
  • I don't have the budget for soft skills training.
    • Doug believes one person that is fired up is worth 10 that are just showing up. If you want your team be exceptional, find the money! Partner up with a peer to share budgets, get a sponsor, redirect money from other budgets, or simply cuts costs. At a minimum, make sure you are using your current training dollars wisely. Year-after-year leaders throw good money at skills training that falls on deaf ears or negative mindsets. What your people really need most is a reason to "Play Full Out", including a higher level of engagement, connection, passion, and personal responsibility.
A recent comprehensive study of over 85,000 people working for large and mid-sized companies revealed only 14% of employees are fully engaged in their job, and are willing to "go the extra mile" for their employees. The study's conclusion stated, "There is a vast reserve of untapped employee performance potential that can drive better financial results, if companies can successfully tap into this reserve." In addition:
  • 59% of workers are "not engaged", 14% are "actively disengaged", and only 27% of workers are described as "engaged" in their work.
  • Research from over 1.5 million employees, 87,000 business units, and 30 industries concludes that actively disengaged employees cost the economy between $292 billion and $355 billion a year. When injury, illness, turnover and other factors associated with negativity or active disengagement are included, the cost quickly approaches a trillion dollars, almost 10% of the U.S. GDP.
  • 70% of employers thought their employees felt good about their workplace, but only 44% of the workers agreed.

In a world full of impersonal technology and automated systems, the companies that keep a close eye on their people, their energy level, and their connection have a huge advantage. Why not make your company one of the best in your industry to work for while enjoying the benefits of peak performance along the way! After Doug's teambuilding workshops you'll see an immediate difference in your employees and the overall workplace environment. We also have the survey tools to benchmark the group prior to the event and evaluate its effectiveness afterwards.
